POLICE appealed on Tuesday for information after a man was seriously injured in a Boxing Day assault in the centre of Minehead.

The victim was near the NatWest Bank in The Avenue at around 8.15pm when he was approached by a man who punched and kicked him to the ground.

He was taken to hospital suffering from shoulder and throat injuries.

Details of the attack were only released this week but investigating officers say they want to speak to a heavily built white man in his mid-30s who spoke with a Liverpudlian accent.

They have also appealed for any witnesses to the attack or anyone in the area at the time to contact them and particularly want to speak to a man, wearing glasses, who was walking his dog.
