YOUNG parents in Watchet have clinched a grant of just over £5,000 to help them access a range of courses to improve their lives. The cash from the Somerset Youth Opportunities Fund will help the Young Parents Group at the Little Vikings Children's Centre. Launched last September, it currently has ten members aged from 16 to 25 who meet weekly. "It's an opportunity to meet other people socially, as well as providing the chance to access learning," said family support co-ordinator Jacqui Walters. "The parents have applied for this grant themselves and have really taken ownership of this group." The courses, which the parents have selected, range from yoga and wholefood cookery to self- esteem and crêche facilities will be available for those taking part. Anyone wanting more information on the courses and other courses provided at the Little Vikings centre, can contact Jacqui or fellow family support co-ordinator Sam Fahey on 01984 633655.
