THE HF Holiday Group, which runs 20 hotels across Britain including Holnicote House at Selworthy, has given the Exmoor Paths Partnership a donation of £1,000 to enable it to carry out path improvements.

The donation, made by the Hotel Group's own Pathways Fund, was allocated for a series of bridleway improvements on a path descending from Stoke Pero to the bottom of Prickslade Combe in Horner Wood National Nature Reserve.

Last year, HF Holidays, a company which specialises in providing outdoor walking holidays, sponsored the team to carry out path improvements on a footpath descending to the beach at Hurlstone Point, near Porlock.

Michael Sherring of the EPP, who oversaw last year's sponsored task, said: "This year's contribution is very welcome and we thank HF Holidays for their generosity.

"The bridleway from Stoke Pero has recently received a number of improvements, notably the infill of eroded gullies and the levelling of the path surface to make it easier to ride and walk on.

"Additional cross-drains have been installed to remove as much surface water as possible, a major contributory factor to path erosion."

He added that the bridleway improvements would improve safe access for all users.

A news-sheet highlighting the improvements made by the team has been produced by the partnership and distributed to guests staying at Holnicote House to keep them informed of progress.
