SIR — Last Wednesday I had the misfortune to fall and was helped by four passers-by. They were so kind and for this I thank them.

The evening ensued with a visit to Musgrove Park Hospital and I can only say that the care I received from paramedics, a passing doctor, the ambulance crew and staff at accident and emergency, was exemplary.

This, together with excellent care from wonderful friends and neighbours, makes me proud to live in Somerset, especially Watchet.
