SIR — During Dulverton by Starlight, my father propped his walking stick against the wall of the Post Office while he did up his coat.

It was dark, there were lots of stalls in the street and lots of people around, he was distracted and walked across the road to the Tantivy completely forgetting his stick. When he went back it had gone.

My father is 89, it belonged to his mother and has sentimental value. If anyone found the stick, I would be grateful if they would contact me on 01823 461547. Thank you.

Carolyn Palmer,
