TWO ginger kittens, a motley collection of dogs and about 50 human beings gathered together for the annual animal service on Woolston Moor on Saturday. Although there were no horses or ponies at this year's service, the prayers and readings reminded the congregation about the entire animal kingdom. Wild animals, endangered species, overseas species and microscopic animals were all remembered in the service for Quantock Towers benefice. There were also a few quiet prayers of thanks that the grass had been cut and baled earlier in the day, and gratitude to organist Christopher Le Grove who accompanied the singing. A prayer for the situation in London following Thursday's bombings was also included as the animal service made those present acutely aware of the peace and security enjoyed in West Somerset.
