TOWN Crier Grant Dennis, in scarlet attire, tricorn hat and buckled shoes, rang his handbell to open this year’s Porlock Country Fair in traditional style.

A crowd of around 2000 poured on to the Rec to browse a variety of stalls laden with an array of produce and items ranging from cakes and confectionery to toys, books and preserves.

All the money raised by the country fair is ploughed back into maintaining and improving the public facilities on the Recreation Ground, the latest being the new metal fence around the children’s play area.
