A MUMMERS play in the Solar at Dovery Museum will kick-start this Twelfth Night’s Porlock Wassail at 5.45pm on Saturday.

Afterward, the wassailers will process to the orchards of Dovery Museum, Sparkhayes, Porlock Visitor Centre and the community orchard off the Toll Road, ending up at the Top Ship.

Children and adults taking part are asked to bring lanterns, torches, saucepan lids, spoons – or anything that makes a noise!

The ancient ritual of revelry, going back to Medieval times, is traditionally followed to ensure that orchards have a good cider apple harvest in the coming season.
