VILLAGERS will be throwing their gardens open to the public tomorrow and on Sunday (May 12-13) for the annual Porlock Open Gardens event.

Gardens, totalling 17, range in size and design from mature and woodland to cottage and hillside gardens, with refreshments available along the trail.

As well as residents’ gardens, others tended by villagers will be open including Dovery Manor Museum’s steep garden with its range of plants grown for medicinal and culinary use and Porlock Visitor Centre’s Jubilee Garden and Millennium Garden complete with water feature.

Porlock Open Gardens runs from 2pm to 6pm both days. A weekend ticket costs £6 per person and is available from Porlock Visitor Centre, Spar or Gift and Candy.

This year also includes a special offer to visit Greencombe Gardens with a discounted ticket, reduced from £7 to £4.50, to anyone buying a Porlock Open Gardens ticket at the same time. The ticket for Greencombe Gardens can then be used on any afternoon during May.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the running of Porlock Visitor Centre.
