BUSINESSES and attractions in Porlock Vale are hoping to reach new markets with a high tech promotion of their destination, goods and services.
Community leaders celebrated the launch of the Porlock Vale Trails and Village Guide app on Monday, which provides a mobile technology link for visitors and local residents.
The star attraction and focus for the app is a series of themed trails, guides and information aimed at giving visitors additional options for things to do in the area and also help them learn about more about the unique and distinctive way of local life.
The six trails encourage visitors to explore the four corners of Porlock Vale, while other sections on the app give information about local businesses, including accommodation and where to eat in the area.

The app was officially unveiled at Porlock Visitor Centre and can be downloaded at any business in the village displaying the QR code. And it is available at Apple's App Store and as an Android download.
A visitor centre spokesman said thanks were due to West Somerset Council and Nicki Maclean for their help in securing funding from LARC - Local Action for Rural Communities - and to Alistair Campbell who undertook the mammoth task of collecting and collating the information and liaising with TownGuideApps, which have created the product.
