THE ’All Clear’ siren sounded in Porlock before Grant Dennis, the town crier, broadcast a rousing ‘cry’, which was followed by singing of the national anthem and We’ll Meet Again.

Line-up of top authors taking shape for Dulverton and Exmoor Literary FestivalThis was followed by street parties along gaily decorated streets in the village – including Hawkcombe View (pictured). Everyone kept to the required social distancing, but people were able to talk to one another across gardens and the streets.
The event was such a success that now a Longest Day Street Party is planned for June – and Porlock is aiming to become the Party Capital of Exmoor!
