Anyone can apply for a postal vote, whatever their reason, so long as they submit an application form to the councils’ joint election team before 5pm on Tuesday, April 18, which is also the deadline for a proxy vote application is 5pm on Tuesday, 25 April.
Postal vote packs will be sent out from Wednesday April 19 to those who have applied.
Anyone who does not receive their polling card in the coming days should check that they are on the Electoral Register by contacting Taunton Deane and West Somerset’s elections team on 01984 635276. The deadline for registration is midnight on April 13.
To register, go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote before Thursday 13 April. Elisa Day, the councils’ electoral services manager, said: “It’s a straightforward process that only takes a few minutes to complete.”
