Police have asked members of the public be cautious after a report of fake currency being in circulation
A man was given short shrift when he asked a passer-by if he wished to exchange two £10 notes for a £20 note.
When doing so, he produced a badly-faked £20 note, which failed to impress the other man who declared there would be no transaction.
The latter tried to detain the former but had to give up after a brief struggle as the suspect ran off.
