POLICE are appealing for the public to help identify a man officers would like to speak with in connection to a burglary in Cannington.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary before being released under investigation, but officers are still looking to speak to a second individual following the theft of cash from The Friendly Spirit pub, in Brook Street, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 30.

Officers described the person as being hooded in dark clothes with a shiny rucksack and appealed to the public for additional footage or images they may have of the area at around 1 am.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “CCTV enquiries have been carried out and show a man we want to talk to in connection with our enquiries. He is seen wearing a hooded top, dark clothing and in possession of a shiny rucksack. He is in the company of a second man, too.

“While we appreciate the image is not of the highest quality, we hope someone may be able to assist our investigation or have footage from around the time that shows the individuals more clearly.

“If you can help us, please contact us online or call 101 and quote reference number 5224109708.”

The burglary came just weeks after new owners took over the business in March. Taking to social media, the landlords said: “Any information, CCTV or door camera footage would be appreciated.”
