Avon and Somerset Constabulary involved more than 20 officers when executing warrants under The Misuse of Drugs Act in Chard, Yeovil, Frome and Wells.

Operation Flamboyant went ahead last Thursday (April 11th) and was described by police as "dedicated day of action".

In Yeovil a woman was arrested as officers seized two ounces of suspected cannabis resin and a quantity of suspected stolen property.

Four men were arrested in Chard where police seized half an ounce of suspected heroin, a quantity of suspected cannabis resin, six wraps of suspected crack cocaine, several tablets suspected to be ecstacy plus suspected stolen property - including two DVD players, a television and five mobile phones.

A man was arrested in Frome after police found six suspected ecstacy tablets, a quantity of suspected amphetamine powder, suspected cannabis bush and drug-related paraphernalia.

A raid in Wells led to a woman being arrested for failing to appear in court, and a stolen vehicle was recovered.

All those arrested have been released on bail pending forensic analysis of the confiscated substances.

Police inspector Nick Walker said the targets had been identified as a result of weeks of investigations and information supplied by members of the local communities.

He added: "Operation Flamboyant sends out a strong message to people involved or looking to get involved in drug-related crime in this area.

"The message is that local communities and the police will not tolerate the peddling of drugs."

The two people arrested in Chard raids the week before last, have been bailed pending forensic analysis of substances seized.
