THE daughter of an American pilot killed in a wartime plane crash on Bossington Hill crossed the Atlantic to take part for the first time in a moving Remembrance Day service at Porlock Marsh on Wednesday - thanks to dedicated detective work by St Dubricius’ School secretary Kim Rowe.

Mary Williams Schaller laid red roses at the service at the Liberator Memorial on Porlock Marsh alongside wreaths – including one made by the schoolchildren – in memory of her father Captain William Jonreau Williams II and 11 other airmen who died.

It was the first time that Mary had visited the area where the men from 330th Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, US Army Air Corps, lost their lives when their Liberator plane crashed into Bossington Hill.
