PUBLIC notices cover a number of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks, and other works.
Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.
Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council for the West Somerset and Exmoor areas.
Solar panel installation proposal
A proposal affecting or adjacent to a public right of way could impact a conservation area in Exmoor National Park.
Application 6/27/25/011 proposes the installation of 17 solar PV panels at the The Harbour Lights, Porlock Weir Road, Porlock.
Anyone who wishes to make representations about the application should email the Exmoor National Park Planning Department or send their representations in writing, making sure to quote the application number.
Road closures in Watchet
Somerset Council has made an order to close St Decumans Road, Watchet, to all traffic from the junction with Severn Terrace to the junction with Gillams Close.
This order will be in place to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works.
The order is expected to last one day, with work expected to take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 29.
Furthermore, Somerset Council have also ordered that South Road, Watchet, also be closed for all traffic from its junction with Flowerdale Road.
This order will also enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works.
The work is also expected to take one day, starting at 9.30am on Friday, October 31, and ending at 3.30pm.
Three day closure in Stogursey
Somerset Council have made an order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Water Lane, Stogursey, near its junction with Burton Road for a distance of 41 metres.
This order is in place to enable Wessex Water to carry out supply separation works.
The works are expected to last for three days, starting on Monday, October 27, and concluding on Wednesday, October 29.
Weacombe Road closure
Somerset Council has made an order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Weacombe Road, West Quantoxhead, from its junction with Luckes Lane to its junction with Hill Lane.
This order will enable Openreach to restore a pole.
Work relating to this order will take place on Thursday, October 30, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm.
