A PUBLIC meeting over a proposed solar panel development near Washford is to be held in Williton to see how it could be affected.

The public exhibition is to be held at Danesfield School on Wednesday (June 13) from 5pm to 8pm, after Williton Parish Council asked the proposers, London based Elgin Energy, to hold a second meeting.

Some of the proposed site falls within Williton parish, and the council asked for a consultation for Williton residents to learn about the implications of the project for the village, so they could be involved in the decision process.

The proposal is for a 132-acre solar energy farm on agricultural land north of Washford, stretching as far as Tropiquaria Zoo, to power 7,500 homes over its 30-year lifespan.

A first meeting was held at Washford Memorial Hall on May 10, at which 200 local people saw plans and questioned the energy company.
