WEST Somerset Council’s planning committee has agreed to a total of 16 new houses being built in Washford despite objections from Old Cleeve Parish Council and nearly 30 residents.

Objectors argued that the developments could cause serious traffic and parking problems.

At its meeting last week, the committee passed outline plans for six houses on a former plant nursery site on the A39.

It also agreed to a development of ten houses on land currently used as allotments north of Huish Lane, Washford.
