PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks, and other works.

Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.

Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council for the West Somerset and Exmoor areas.

Pole renewal works by Openreach will see Beacon Road, Minehead, closed for six hours on August 27 from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.

The replacement of poles by Openreach in Bridge Street, Williton, will mean the closure of the road between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm on August 28 and 29.

Ducting works by Openreach will result in the closure of Crowcombe Road, Crowcombe, for six hours between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm on August 28.

Openreach will be working in Park Lane, Carhampton, to replace poles on September 12 which will cause the road to be closed for seven hours between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm.

Fibre cable connection works by Airband Community Internet Ltd will see the closure of The Knoll, Stogumber, for six hours from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm on September 8.

Signing works by Kier on behalf of Somerset Highways will cause the closure for five days of Higher Combe to Mounsey Hill Gate, and Higher Combe Drive, Dulverton, from September 8 to 12.

Pole replacement and testing works by Openreach means the closure for six hours between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm on September 14 of Main Road and Williton to Bridgwater Road, in the parishes of Kilve and East Quantoxhead.

Mill Lane, Hillhead Cross to Lucott Cross, and Hillhead Cross to Porlock Post, in Exford parish, will be closed from August 26 to 29 while Kier carries out drainage works.

A 20 mph speed limit will be imposed when indicated by signs on the A396, Cutcombe, from September 5 while Kier carries out highway safety maintenance work on behalf of Somerset Council.

DM Contractors (Wellington) Ltd, of Poole Industrial Estate, Wellington, has applied for a goods vehicle operator’s licence to operate as a centre for six goods vehicles and six trailers, and anybody who believes their use of the land will be affected has 21 days in which to make written representations to the Traffic Commissioners in Leeds while also copying to the applicant.
