PUBLIC notices cover a number of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks, and other works.

Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.

Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council for the West Somerset and Exmoor areas.

Closure in Luccombe to last entire work week

In exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, Somerset Council have ordered the closure of Huntscott Road, Luccombe, from a point 267 metres from its junction with Stoney Street, which will extend to cover a distance of 205 metres of road.

This order has been issued to enable Wessex Water to carry out new connection works.

The closure of Huntscott Road is set to begin on Monday, November 24, and will be in place all the way through to Friday, November 28.

Link box replacement to close road in Minehead

Somerset Council have announced that Selbourne Place, Minehead, will be closed from its junction with Bampton Street for a total distance of 18 metres.

This closure has been put in place to enable National Grid to carry out a link box replacement.

Work is expected to commence from Tuesday, November 25, and is expected to last until Thursday, November 27, a total of three days.

One day closure of Bridge Street

An order has been made by Somerset Council to close Bridge Street, Williton, from near the road’s junction with St Peter’s Close, covering a total distance of 25 metres.

This order has been put in place to enable Openreach to carry out pole removal works.

The closure is only expected to last around six hours, commencing at 9.30am and concluding at 3.30pm on Monday, December 8.

Cutcome Hill faces overnight closure

Cutcombe Hill, Cutcombe, will face an overnight closure in order to enable Wessex Water to carry out works to replace a manhole cover and frame.

The order has been put in place from the road’s junction with Higher Park Lane to the junction with Summerway, resulting in a total length of 43 metres through which Cutcombe Hill will be closed.

The closure will start at 6pm on Tuesday, November 25, with Wessex Water expected to work for 12 hours, with the road being reopened by 6am on Wednesday, November 26.
