A PIRATES of the Severn Seas family fun day will be held at Dunster Castle on bank holiday Monday. The day will be packed full of exciting pirate- themed activities for children of all ages and is part of the maritime celebrations SeaBritain 2005. National Trust staff will be donning their pirate outfits for the day and children are also encouraged to dress for the fun occasion. There will be hordes of swashbuckling activities for children to take part in throughout the day, including 'X-Marks the Spot' where the hidden treasure needs to be found, and a 'Pirate Trail', which takes children through the gardens answering clues and spotting the missing ships on the way. Young pirate wannabes will have the chance to look like real pirates by having their face painted and designing their own pirate hats.  Children will also be able to make their very own pirate ship and race it on the River Avill in the castle grounds.  Assistant to visitor services manager, Rachel Ingram said: "Children and adults alike can learn a lot about the rich and exciting nautical history of the West Somerset coastline and its pirates and smugglers. Pirates Day is going to be a fun-filled day of activities and games." The Pirates Day runs from 10am to 4.30pm. Normal admission prices will apply and there is a small charge for some of the activities. Photo: Steve Guscott
