AN 11th hour appeal has been made to keep the public toilets on Blue Anchor seafront open after the West Somerset Council decision to close them next year.

Old Cleeve Parish Council said this week that it does not have the finance or resources to run the toilets and is appealing for “interested parties” to present a business case to West Somerset Council.

This has already been done in Minehead, Dunster and Exford where facilities have been successfully transferred.

Parish council chairman Geoff Williams said: “The provision of public toilets on the seafront at Blue Anchor is an issue that has not been resolved, and time is running out before this valuable service will be closed.

“There will be no future funding for this service from West Somerset Council. Our only course of action at the present time is to make an 11th hour appeal.

“Old Cleeve Parish Council will be pleased to help and guide any interested party to keep this important facility open.”
