CHILDREN at St Michael’s First School, in Minehead, decided to take action after watching a video in assembly about Operation Christmas Child.

It showed children in deprived areas of the world receiving a shoebox filled with fantastic gifts.

Inspired by the film, each class collected a variety of items including toys, books, pencils, toothbrushes, hairbrushes which were sorted into boxes for different aged children.

Photographs of St Michael’s classes were put into the boxes so that the children who receive them know where they came from.

The boxes have now been taken to the distribution centre and the children are looking forward to hearing which countries they were sent to.
