VILLAGERS in Old Cleeve are celebrating the completion of the new roof for the Community Hall – less than a year since their appeal started – thanks to generous grants and local fundraising,

The hall, which is a registered charity, has received grants totalling £44,000, from the National Lottery, Hinkley ’ Mitigation Fund, the Fairfield Trust, the Roger de Haan Trust, the St Luke’s Trust, and the Garfield Weston Foundation, as well as the Tesco Bags for Life scheme.

A host of events were organised by the volunteers from the hall and the adjoining Lysaght Club to raise the rest of the money required.

“This is a fantastic achievement,” said hall chairman Mike Hunt. “The hall is a wonderful venue for all sorts of activities.”
