A BLUE Anchor woman who works for EDF Energy has been awarded the UK Foundation Degree/HND Student of the Year at the UK Nuclear Skills Awards for the second year running.
Jessica Batts recently completed the foundation degree in nuclear engineering at Bridgwater College.
She was shortlisted to one of three finalists from across the UK who were invited to the 2015 Student of the Year awards ceremony in Manchester.
Each entrant was assessed by an independent panel and Jessica's commitment to the industry, education and her dedication to inspire young engineers made her the outstanding candidate.
Paul Goss, section leader for engineering at Bridgwater College, said, "Jessica fully deserves this award.
"She dedicated herself to her course and as a result achieved excellent grades, skills and knowledge that have complemented her professional development.
"She has proven to be an outstanding student and employee for EDF Energy within the nuclear sector and has consistently shown a professional approach to her work and always displays a genuine interest.
"This achievement has clearly been recognised by her employer which will give Jessica a very bright future within the nuclear engineering industry."
