SIR — Many people in West Somerset, mostly volunteers, work tirelessly to put on events to provide the area with activities and make the place a more vibrant one.

Many of these events are to raise funds for worthwhile charities and all of them operate on a shoestring budget.

The opportunity to use public notice boards is critical to help get our message out.

We all try to help each other by not covering each other's notices and carefully removing only those that have passed.

With most charity events faced with a zero marketing budget, these notice boards are so important.

But someone has chosen to paste not one but two A4 adverts for Minehead's latest Avenue-based eating establishment on the Blenheim Road entrance notice board.

Let's keep the pages of the Free Press the domain of commercial advertising and reserve our notice boards for events.
