AFTER 34 years as Williton’s independent newsagent, Hugh Davies, county and district councillor, racehorse-owner, rugby fanatic and self-confessed political maverick, closes his shop for the last time on Saturday, January 30
“Sadly, the market forces against the small independent newsagent are now just too much,” 74-year-old Hugh said.
“There are now four newspaper retailers and lottery outlets in the village and for a long time it’s been a struggle against the big boys. It’s time to call it a day and there are a lot of other things I want to do."
