TENANT representatives from Magna West Somerset Housing Association welcomed new members to their panel at this week's AGM, bringing their total strength to 11. Marian Moran, of Stogursey, previously the tenants' panel secretary, was elected chairman after Ian Grady, of Alcombe, stood down from the position. Marian, pictured, said: "We do a lot of good work for tenants and I've seen that, by getting involved, we can have a say and change things to make improvements for tenants in the future." Bernard Ryder, of Stogumber, was voted on as vice- chairman but there were no takers for the position of secretary. The tenants' panel, which meets on the first Monday of the month at Magna's office in Williton, gets involved in decision making at all levels. Members are also heavily involved in administering a £20,000 environmental improvement budget which is used to help enhance the quality of life in local neighbourhoods. Tenants are invited to attend and can bring any issues or questions to the meeting, although panel members ask that they have advance warning whenever possible so that the relevant staff can be available to respond. Childcare and travel assistance is given to tenants who wish to attend the meetings. Tenants can also contact panel members through Magna on 01984 635100 or find their details in the quarterly tenants' magazine, 'Opendoor'. The tenants panel is always on the look out for new members. Any Magna tenant or leaseholder who is interested should contact Marian Moran through Magna on 01984 635100.
