Visiting the pre-school allotment helps children learn about growth, their natural world, caring for insects and promoting healthy eating and lifestyles. They do this through activities such as digging, sowing, planting, watering and harvesting a range of fruit and vegetables.
This year, they grew potatoes, carrots, beans, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants and sunflowers.
The original shed has been on the allotment for over 15 years and is beginning to break down beyond repair, but the donation means it can be replaced sooner than hoped.
