A WALK taking in both open moor and the deep wooded valley of the East Lyn kicks off The Exmoor Society’s 2018 programme of guided walks on Tuesday (April 10).
With some country lane walking, the route includes a steep path beside a stream. It starts at 10.30am at Dry Bridge and may include a stop for a pub lunch.
On Saturday (April 14) is the second walk in the programme – a circular route from Bossington, taking in Porlock Bay and marsh. It starts at 2pm and is expected to take three hours.
Setting off from Bossington village, the walk sweeps along the shingle ridge and across the salt-marsh, providing opportunities to discover coastal and marine wildlife as well as historic features. No dogs on this walk.
The Exmoor Society walks programme runs until October and encompasses diverse landscapes including the moorlands, coast, woodland, river valleys and farmland.
There is no charge for the walks but a small donation from non-members is appreciated. Some walks end with an optional pub lunch or afternoon tea.
Full details can be found on the Exmoor Society website or the office 34 High Street, Dulverton.
