Minehead’s new sea safety system – designed to warn holidaymakers of potentially dangerous conditions – was finally up and running this week.

Seafront flagpoles have been fitted with orange windsocks, plus signs which warn against entering the water when the windsocks are facing seawards.

Minehead RNLI welcomed the move but said it was disappointed the system had not become operational before the end of the holiday season.
