OPENING times at local police stations and others across the Avon and Somerset force area changed this week as part of the constabulary's ongoing review of its estate. Temporary assistant chief constable Nikki Watson said the changes were needed to make it more straightforward for people to contact the police. "We have spoken to partners, staff and members of public and we were consistently told our opening hours could be confusing and it would be simpler if we removed alternating patterns and instead opened the same hours every week," she said. "We will be making changes to our police stations in the coming months and years so there will be further changes, but it was important for us to provide a simpler service for our communities as soon as possible." The largest police stations, including those in Bridgwater and Taunton, are open seven days a week from 8am until 8pm across the force. The Minehead office is open from Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 6pm with a half-hour break for lunch between at 1pm. In Williton, the office will be open from 10am to 2pm with no break for lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and closed on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
