New noticeboard in the Square
WIVELISCOMBE Square has a new community noticeboard, nearly three years after a lorry delivering to the Co-Op knocked over the original one.
Local councillor Bryn Wilson said the long delay in replacing the board was caused by arguments with the Co-Op’s insurance company. “And then we had to put it out to tender, so that made it take even longer,” he said.
The new three-sided noticeboard, made of oak, cost about £4,000 and was crafted by local woodworker Phillip Hayes. Passers-by have commented on its elegance. “Phillip was a student of mine at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. I’m very proud of the work he’s done for the Square,” Bryn added.
