TWO Watchet mothers who completed the London Marathon on Sunday have raised nearly £4,500 between them in aid of charities to help fund research into children’s diseases.
Toni Middleton, manager of Goldilocks Hair and Beauty, raised £2,435 for Children with Cancer UK, and Clare Taplin, bar manager of The Bell Inn, raised £2,000 for Elliot’s Touch.
It was the first marathon the two women had run, and Toni completed hers in four hours, 34 minutes and three seconds, while Clare came in with a time of five hours, 44 minutes and 44 seconds.
They each surpassed their fundraising target by almost £1,000.
Children with Cancer UK funds 50 research projects to improve understanding and treatment of childhood cancers. Elliot’s Touch funds important research and raises awareness of cardiomyopathy and mitochondrial disease.
