MORE than 100 walkers took part in this year’s Rotary Exmoor Challenge, which took place on Sunday, April 7.

The annual walk was organised by the Rotary Club of Exmoor and took place in and around Oakford, just over the border into Devon.

The aim of the competition, which is held between two Rotary Club Districts (District 1175, which is Devon and Cornwall and District 1200, which is Somerset and Dorset) was to raise money for the Children's Hospice of the South West, which has hospices in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Walkers could take either a four-mile route or a longer seven-mile route, while earning points for their district.

This year the overall winners were District 1200, who fielded a total of 66 walkers and 14 of which came from the Rotary Club of Minehead.

Walkers from Minehead were presented with the winning shield for their efforts.
