SIR — I was initially pleased to see the heading 'Bus shelter reaches crossroads' in last week's Free Press but astonished when I realised it referred to the defunct shelter by Cliff's Cabs.
For some time now I have been trying to get various council bodies to take responsibility for repairing the very well used shelter on Harbour Road without success and have finally appealed to our MP Ian Liddell-Grainger for help.
This shelter has been serially vandalised over many months. Most recently the last end panel has been demolished, resulting in a wind tunnel rather than a shelter - when it rains the seats become unusable.
Can it really be that the council will waste money on something which 'has no practical function' yet ignore the pressing need to repair the vital shelter in Harbour Road?
