AN ivy covered, quirky building on a corner in the village of Monksilver has been sold for close to its guide price of £50,000, after being used as a small office.
The 250 square foot building called The Forge and believed to be part of the old village forge, was advertised as an ideal opportunity for a rural office, writer’s retreat or IT hub.
It was sold by informal tender by estate agents Chanin & Thomas to a local person, with consent for commercial but not residential use.
The building has an office space, separate entrance lobby, and a spiral staircase although this does not have building regulation approval.
It leads to a first floor storage area or potential further space, and the building has all been substantially renovated and connected to fibre broadband.
