MAYOR of Minehead Cllr Craig Palmer was elected at the town council’s annual meeting to serve a fourth term in the role.

Cllr Palmer said: “I look forward to working with fellow councillors, local organisations, and residents over the coming year to support our community and make a positive difference for the town.”

Cllr Jerry Milton was elected deputy mayor, succeeding Cllr Anne Lawton, who held the post for three years.

A council spokesperson said: “Although the role of mayor at town and parish level differs from that of mayors in larger authorities, it continues to play an important part in local civic life.

“The mayor leads council meetings, ensures business is conducted fairly, and represents Minehead at a wide range of community, civic, and ceremonial occasions.”
