ROTARIANS in Minehead proved the town has talent when their spring fayre provided the backdrop for a new contest.

Crowds turned out to sample the attractions of a giant inflatable obstacle course as well as face painting, crafts and stalls at the fayre in Blenheim Gardens last Saturday.

But visitors were also treated to a range of live performances from talented musicians and singers in the first Rotary Club of Minehead 'Minehead Has Talent' competition.

Organisers said the event included some exceptional performances on electric mandolin and electronic keyboard and some outstanding solo and duet singing.

Head judge and Rotarian David Yates said: "What more could you possibly want - sitting in the sun in a beautiful park listening to some exceptional music?

"All the competitors performed really well and it was difficult to come to a decision.

"Minehead really has got talent!"

But despite the challenge facing the judges, the winner was named as vocalist Natalie Woodward, a student at the West Somerset Community College.

She is pictured receiving her certificate from Mr Yates.
