SIR — As someone who chose to move to Minehead recently to run a tourist related business, may I express my surprise at only one letter regarding the appalling suggestion of moving the Tourist Information Centre to within the Butlins site. May I take this opportunity to totally support everything that the writer, Cynthia Stevens, says but I would like to go a little further and say that I am amazed that councillors should even be considering such a proposal. Whilst I understand that Butlins is a large business, it is not the only business in Minehead. Do these so-called representatives of the people not understand that whilst many of the people at Butlins visit the town, very few if any of the ordinary visitors to the town and surrounding area ever visit Butlins. I have a very simple message to these councillors - start thinking about the ordinary tourist trade that is so very important to a lot of people in Minehead. A tourist trade that needs decent car parks, decent and available facilities like the TIC, not fancy offices for the council and its officers. And remember, Butlins is in Minehead, not Minehead in Butlins! Malcolm Garner, Tregonwell Road, Minehead.
