FIREFIGHTERS from Minehead and Dulverton were called to tackle a tractor fire near Luxborough on Saturday evening (August 22).
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue (DSFR) was alerted to the incident at about 5.15 pm.
The crews set to work with attack and hose reel jets and beaters, and used water from an open water source to fight the blaze, which had spread to nearby grassland.
A DSFR spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, the tractor was destroyed by fire.”
The spokesperson said nearly 2,700 sq ft of grass was also burned, with the cause believed to have been ‘accidental ignition’.
Minehead fire crews were also among 169 from 93 fire stations which were recently involved in putting out a 400-acre wildfire in the New Forest, in Hampshire.
