Council taxpayers to be charged average £5 more for Devon & Somerset Fire and RescueThe yellow warning, which covers large parts of the south of England, came into effect at 3 pm on Monday, January 8 and is set to expire at 3 am on Tuesday, January 9.
Gritters were deployed by Somerset Council overnight on Sunday and were seen on Monday travelling down Wellington High Street.
Issuing the warning the Met Office said that "Ice and small amounts of snow could lead to slippery surfaces in a few places" and warned affected residents to expect "Some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle path and some injuries from slips and falls on icy or snowy surfaces."
The cold plunge comes days after Storm Henk battered the region with strong winds, and is set to bring below-freezing temperatures overnight through much of the week.
