A Yeovil man was treated at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, for serious head injuries after a weekend incident in the Larkhill Road area.

Police were called at 11.45pm on Saturday, June 7th, to an incident involving an alleged assault.

The fire brigade had to be called to free the man from underneath a taxi. It is understood the man fell under the passing taxi during the incident.

He was taken to Yeovil District Hospital with injuries to his head, collarbone, knee and back.

The man has since been transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and it is understood he was still a patient at the time of going to press.

Police arrested a 19-year-old Yeovil man on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.

He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
