A MAN was hospitalised on Thursday morning (April 18) after a motorbike and a van collided on the A39 on the Dunster Straight.

The accident happened during rush hour at about 8.45 am and blocked the road in both directions for a short time, causing traffic queues which stretched through Carhampton in one direction and back to Minehead in the other.

Police and ambulance crews attended the incident, which was close to the Dunster Sawmills, and the road was reopened at about 9.20 am.

Paramedics took the casualty by ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesperson said the man had suffered ‘minor injuries’.

Somerset Cllr Mandy Chilcott, who represents Minehead, said her thoughts were with all those who had been involved.

Cllr Chilcott said the crash caused long delays for motorists but she was pleased traffic was flowing again within a short time.
