A STRETCH of the A39 was shut early on Monday (August 7) morning after a road traffic accident involving a car and a lorry.
The incident between Fiddington and Cannington was attended by the police, fire brigade, ambulance, and an air ambulance.
Fire crews worked to rescue a male who had become trapped in the car. Hydraulic cutters were used to cut the man free from the vehicle before he was attended to by paramedics.
Police advised motorists to seek an alternate route after traffic was shut in both directions.
