SIR — New changing rooms are needed on Williton War Memorial Recreation Ground, but what is currently proposed is a village hall by the back door.
A small group of people is determined to build on the recreation ground - they tried before back in 2007.
Plenty of villagers objected to this proposal by forming a campaign group called Friends of Williton War Memorial Recreation Ground plus also the Royal British Legion.
Thwarted then, this group has bided its time but here they come again, altering the plan subtly and hoping no-one will notice by erecting new changing rooms and calling the project 'a sports pavilion'.

At the moment it is half the size of the original plan - if you want to know how big it will be, take a look at the EMN hall at Monksilver, it is similar in size.
Using the rules of divide and conquer, they have persuaded the Royal British Legion to back their plan by offering them a garden.
The pavilion will be used, apparently, by a wide range of groups for badminton, yoga, bridge, coffee mornings, table tennis etc.
We already have these in the village at Danesfield School, the Parish Rooms, Danesborough View community room, the children's play centre etc, but it seems all these groups wish to relocate to the "new village hall".
In fact so popular is the idea that groups wish to drive here from other villages - a yoga group wishes to come from Nether Stowey presumably ignoring all the facilities there and bypassing the village halls at Holford, Kilve, and West Quantoxhead with their free car parks for Williton, where there will be no car park unless you are prepared to pay.
People won't of course - they will park in the doctors' surgery car park and when that's full, along Robert Street.
Once built, it will of course be "too small" so will need extending in a few years.
By then the surgery will have become fed up with all the cars trying to park in their car park so car parking spaces will be needed. The pavilion will hold 80 people, or 150, people or 200, the figures keep going up, so car parking for 40 plus cars will be needed.
I have always been impressed since coming to the village by the solidarity and passionate concern of villagers for this green open space.
Since 1921 Williton has always been against spoiling the recreation ground since it is supposed to be a war memorial.
We are coming up to the anniversary of the First World War, it is meant to be a place for quiet reflection, do we really want our green space spoilt with this building?
