AFTER five years of fund-raising for a revamped village hall, Holford and District Village Committee managed to raise over half the money needed for the £517,000 project – in just five days.

Carhampton public house reopened as four generations of family return to rootsLast week the committee was awarded £125,000 of Hinkley Point CIM funding, followed by £207,000 from a Big Lottery grant.
“We’re all ready to go ahead,” said committee chairman Alan Falkingham.
“We’re hoping that the new hall will become the social centre for the area and make a real difference to people’s lives.
"A revitalised hall will, hopefully, be a hub of activity in the future and bring a new dynamic to the area. I’m really keen to see the hall used for a wide variety of activities like weddings, parties and musical and social events.”
The money will fund the village’s Fit for the Future project, which involves extending the building and creating an overflow car park.
