OVER 1,200 people turned up for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in Minehead’s Blenheim Gardens on Easter Saturday.

Organised by local community organisation Gateway Events, it was a collaborative pooling of ideas between West Somerset Railway, Home Start and the Artisans Market, all aimed at “bringing a special Easter buzz” to the town.

There was entertainment throughout the afternoon, and children, mums and dads enjoyed everything from party games and competitions to children’s talent performances, sing-alongs, dancing around the park and a family tug of war.

“All in all a huge success,” said Bill Howard, Gateway Events chairman, who has nvited anyone interested in taking part in “making things happen” in Minehead to visit Gateway Events on Facebook.
