HARVEST festival in a tiny Exmoor village this year is being combined with a scarecrow competition.

The competition in Luccombe is open to entries from all age groups in the village with scarecrows needing to be placed in gardens by the weekend of October 11.

The winners will then be announced at the 3 pm Harvest Festival service in the parish’s Blessed Virgin Mary Church on October 12.

Entries will be judged in age categories for under-10s, 10 to 15 years old, over 70s, and ‘everybody else’.

A spokesperson said: “They would love to have entries from the village and from all age groups.

“All you need to do is create a scarecrow and place it in your garden before the weekend of the 12th.”
